< March 1st, 2026. Upcoming Program> Join the SPICE! mixed team and parade to the Konomiya Shinto Shrine to the cheers of the crowd! Every year in mid-February, the Owari Okunitama-jinja Shrine in Inazawa, Aichi Prefecture, hosts the famous Naked Man Festival, or Konomiya Hadaka Matsuri. Thousands of men, wearing only fundoshi and white socks, gather to try to touch the shin-otoko, a man designated to absorb the misfortunes of the community. This tradition, which dates back more than 1,200 years, is a collective purification ritual where endurance, fervor, and solidarity intertwine in an electric atmosphere, under buckets of ice-cold water and the cheers of the crowd. Since 2024, women's and mixed teams have been allowed under certain conditions. This is a way of adapting the festival to the customs of the times and ensuring its long-term future.
